Mac Laptops at BCIS

Mac Laptop Order Form ( Grade 4 to Grade 12 only)

2017-2018 School Year

The Apple MacBook 1:1 program at BCIS supports teaching and learning for all students from Grades 4-12 who are required to purchase a MacBook that can be used in and outside of the classroom for learning purposes.

BCIS strives to make sure students are given every opportunity to develop the 21st Century skills that they will need to be competitive in a changing technological landscape. The IB program develops creative and critical thinkers through a rich curriculum built on inquiry and experiential learning. It is the aim of the MacBook program to both support and drive such learning experiences.

BCIS works with Boya, an authorized Apple education re-seller, to ensure that a discount is offered to all student purchases of a MacBook. All MacBooks have to meet the BCIS minimum requirements:

•    Students must purchase a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro 13” or larger
•    MacBooks must have a minimum hard disk storage size of 256GB
•    MacBooks models should be no older than Year 2014. A new model is preferred
•    Windows PC Laptops are not acceptable

For more information on how to order from the authorized Apple Education reseller, Boya, please see the order form below:

Students can choose to purchase their MacBook from other authorized sellers including authorized Apple stores. However, students must ensure that their MacBook meets the specifications as outlined above.

BCIS highly recommends that students purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan. Although the initial purchase of a MacBook includes a one-year limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary technical support, an extended three-year AppleCare Protection Plan is recommended. The extended three- year AppleCare Protection Plan includes global repair coverage. For more information about AppleCare please follow the links below:

The MacBook is a very powerful learning tool with countless benefits. We believe that the Apple MacBook 1:1 program at BCIS has a significant impact on teaching and learning and will enable students to develop 21st Century skills.

In addition, all students in Grades 6 to 10 and Grade 11 and 12 students who have chosen Design Technology will need to purchase additional software.  The details about this software requirement can be found in the link below.
