THE FUTURE OF LEARNING SPACES
Fei Gao
Come on in and join Secondary School (SS) Principal, Mark Sullivan, as he leads the way through Beijing City International School's (BCIS) unique Chinese garden, our new Prototype Learning Space!
The SS is now equipped with the much-anticipated Prototype Learning Space, a large learning oasis with designated smaller zones of specialized functions.
Learning at BCIS is student-centered and mission driven. The SS Prototype Learning Space is an innovative environment which encourages opportunity and explores new possibilities to empower our learners along their learning journeys. As a community we are experimenting and cultivating ideas from our new Prototype Learning Space for the future of BCIS classroom designs as we continue to develop our future-focused model cosmopolitan education.
The restructured instructional areas have been thoughtfully planned to maximize optimal learning. The Chinese landscape scenes are both symbolic of our cultural roots and serve to mirror functions from these inspirational scenes. Much like the relationship and interdependence between "Wu Xing", the five elements – wood, fire, earth, metal and water – whether during lunch time, after school or in-class, students across grades will inspire each other, learn from each other, and together create new ways of learning.
