NUMEROUS PRAISE FOR BCIS' MATH WIZARDS
Fei Gao
Top Awards at the AMC
Our math whizzes put on quite the show in the latest American Mathematics Competition (AMC). 117 of our students, from Grades 4 to 12, represented Beijing City International School (BCIS), excelling in their performances:
Global Award winners:
Honor Roll: Phillip (Grade 8), Kaiden (Grade 7), Sophie (Grade 7)
Achievement Roll: Alpha (Grade 5), Grace (Grade 6)
National Award winners:
1 student won High Distinction, 4 students won Distinction, 11 students won Merit
BCIS Math Team won School Merit Roll
The AMC is attractive amongst students globally. Our Grade 11s believe that attending the competition enhances their test skillset, while adding value to their learning experiences for university applications. Grades 9 to 12 will soon take part in another AMC – no doubt they will vie to excel again.
Math + Club = Fun
BCIS boasts an array of Enrichment Activities (EA), enhancing learning and providing further opportunities for our students. In preparation for the AMCs, many students flock to Math Club where Mr Patrick (Secondary School Math Team Leader) and his team multiply the fun in math. Math Club is one of many EAs which complement our curriculum through authentic learning experiences.
Family Math Frenzy Time
The end of the first semester saw BCIS' fourth annual Family Math Olympiad in the Secondary School (SS). The morning was bright with new ideas, wisdom and oomph, with some participants even looking the part in their math apparel! This friendly-match is a complete sum of BCISpirit – as students, parents and staff are constantly learning and growing together.
