PYP EXHIBITION 2019
Greg Choi
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) exhibition is a unique event in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools worldwide that takes place in the final grade level prior to the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). As a culmination of their studies so far, students engage in a collaborative transdisciplinary inquiry process that involves investigation, offering solutions to real-life issues or problems in both the local and wider communities. In addition, the exhibition allows Grade 5 students to share their understanding of what it means to be a PYP student within the BCIS community.
This year's PYP exhibition took place on June 5 and 6. The young scholars and creatives tackled a wide range of subjects including video game addiction, animal welfare, sports, and a future for humans in outer space. Poised and knowledgeable, all the students stood by their makeshift booths/areas and gave excellent presentations to audiences comprised of proud parents, teachers, staff members, and even students from other schools.
The innovative ideas the Grade 5 students came up with this year were impressive and well planned. The students and their teachers truly outdid themselves by preparing and executing an exciting show for all audiences that was also educational and interesting. Through this incredible feat (as well as massive team effort), the students proved how their actions embodied the essence of what it truly is to be a responsible, compassionate, and inspired person. Job well done!
