As the clock struck ten, Beijing CBD echoed with a Symphony of Festive Joy. BCIS Campus, adorned with holiday decorations and a festive LeLe ascending the chimney, became the center of celebration. The anticipation was palpable as the community gathered to witness the lighting of the tree by Head of School, Tom Egerton, and awaited the talented performances of their own students and neighbors.
The partnership with Roundabout added an extra layer of warmth, fostering a sense of community collaboration in the heart of the bustling capital city. Roundabout provides aid to people in Beijing and across China, including the elderly, children in orphanages, women from disadvantaged backgrounds, and mentally or physically challenged people. Sales of their Spotlight Magazine not only supports charity projects but also funds the printing of the magazines to promote Roundabout projects within the community.
BCIS Stars, including talented students from across the grades, and equally talented parents, dazzled the audience with an array of performances. Known for its international community, the event showcased the diversity and multiple talents of BCIS community members. The delighted audience of parents, teachers, and fellow students cheered on their peers, creating an atmosphere of support and camaraderie.
Over 140 Christmas market stalls adorned with handmade crafts, treats, and festive novelties showcased the creativity and passion of local and international community groups and charity organizations, including almost 40 student and parent stalls, all working towards noble causes. Throughout the day, a procession of Santas, representing 11 different Christmas traditions around the world, weaved through the assembled crowds of young and old alike spreading festive cheer and raising awareness for the various local causes supported by the event.
The Culinary Crescendo took on new meaning - a kitchen kindness that echoed the spirit of giving. Almost 30 food stalls collaborated with local chefs and culinary artisans, with a portion of the proceeds going towards Roundabout's charitable initiatives. Attendees savored not just the flavors but also the knowledge that their indulgence contributed to the community.
As the noon sun illuminated the CBD skyline and reflected across the campus, the event became a Community Mosaic - a tapestry of local and international support. Over 4000 families, friends, and urban dwellers gathered, to enjoy the festivities and to actively contribute to the betterment of their community through the Christmas market stalls.
As the clock approached 2:00 pm, the BCIS Christmas Bazaar had truly represented an international Season of Giving in the heart of Beijing CBD. The talents showcased by BCIS students and community members turned the event into a celebration of artistic expression, and community pride. In partnership with Roundabout, BCIS Christmas Bazaar is a perfect way to deepen understanding of the concept of global citizenship, promoting love and care within families and communities, embracing cultural diversity, and upholding the values of love and peace.
Continuing our long-standing partnership with Roundabout, we are extremely proud to have raised nearly 40,000 RMB to support Roundabout’s charitable work. This enchanting tale, born on December 3rd through the combined talents and collaborative efforts of BCIS students, parents, PTA and community members, aligns with our school mission “to act for the good of all”, and will be remembered as a testament to the richness of local culture, creativity, unity and the joy that comes from sharing one's talents and giving back to the community.
