BCIS Open Houses Invitation
Cecilia PEI
During recent months, the BCIS community calendar has been marked by a series of outstanding events. These include hosting a global university fair with over 110 overseas universities participating, welcoming the visit of renowned international scholar Professor Zhao Yong, and successfully completing joint evaluations and accreditations by prestigious educational institutions including the Council of International Schools (CIS), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the International Baccalaureate (IB). These initiatives not only ensure that BCIS consistently provides high-quality IB education and resources but also propel further implementation of personalized education within the community.
Simultaneously, as a community centered on compassion and empowerment, BCIS has completed the renovation of facilities such as the high school cafeteria, sports venues, and changing rooms. Most recently, the establishment of the APEX, initiated and led by students and teachers with support from the school, represents a significant advancement. The APEX learning space introduces more advanced robotics technology and scenarios, expanding learning in technology, design thinking, and problem-solving skills within the community. These developments have sparked discussions in the educational field regarding technology education.
These events have all occurred during the first half of the current academic year. As a growing community, BCIS has always adhered to the principles of personalized and future-focused education. We believe that future-focused education is not about describing the future but inspiring students to create it. BCIS is committed to providing broader resources and consistent academic support to encourage students to actively engage in personalized learning processes, discover their passions, and apply their knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems. This approach inspires and empowers students to realize their personal potential and goals while positively impacting the community and the wider world.
If you share our passion for educational principles and want to experience the dynamic learning community at BCIS, we invite you to join us for our upcoming Open Days on March 9th and March 16th. As spring approaches and a new semester begins, we're excited to gather with you to explore international education and the BCIS community together with renewed energy!
Early Childhood Center
3/16 9:30AM
For Kindergarten Families
At the Early Childhood Center (ECC) we use investigative PLAY-BASED approaches as the foundation for learning. Reflecting the philosophies of leading early childhood theorists, young children learn best when they are engaged in experiences of self-discovery and can interact freely with the environment, their peers and teachers. The ECC faculty use the PYP framework to deliver a curriculum which meets these goals and nurtures the strong, meaningful development of our early year's students in our state-of- the-art facilities.
Our Open House welcomes families from all stages of kindergarten. You'll have the opportunity to hear from our academic team, led by the Principal, who will share our educational philosophy. Experience first-hand how preschool children learn and discover the real in-person kindergarten classroom setting. You can also tour our teaching environment, proudly holding the LEED Gold certification from the American Green Building Council. Additionally, meet with our admissions officers face-to-face, and have your enrollment questions answered.
Elementary School
3/16 14:00PM
For Families with Students in Grades 1-5
Our Elementary School curriculum nurtures curiosity and empowers students to have voice and choice in their learning. Meaningful learning takes place when connections are made to personal experiences and built upon prior knowledge and understanding. We place emphasis on the learning of concepts, skills and dispositions, developing knowledge and fostering responsibility. Combining the PYP and our school mission, our INQUIRY-BASED approach unlocks students’ potential and allows students to explore possibilities with a strong future focus.
The Open House provides an opportunity for you to gain a deeper understanding of the Elementary School's IB PYP curriculum, inquiry-based learning, and the unique features of the BCIS program. During this event, student representatives will also share their experiences of inquiry-based learning at BCIS, helping you better comprehend how our curriculum empowers students and ignites their potential. In addition, our admissions officers will personally introduce admission requirements and lead you on a tour of the main campus.
Secondary School
3/9 9:00AM
For Families with Students in Grade 6 and Above
Our Secondary School learning model develops critical and creative thinkers, connected learners and purposeful doers. We achieve this by empowering students’ initiative, encouraging learning by doing, prioritizing social and emotional learning and reinforcing knowledge, concepts and context. This approach allows students to seek out their own personal learning pathways, meet personalized challenges and demonstrate success in a variety of ways. Through the IMPACT-BASED approach to learning adopted in MYP, DP and IDEATE, students are equipped with the competencies and capabilities needed to adapt, thrive and contribute to an uncertain future.
Currently, BCIS graduates can be found in top educational institutions across 23 countries and regions worldwide, pursuing their individual passions. BCIS is committed to encouraging and supporting students in broadening their global perspectives, providing them with diverse options for further education. During this Open Day, you'll gain insights into the Secondary School's IB MYP curriculum and learn about BCIS' "dual track" approach to higher education. Additionally, we'll invite student and parent representatives to share their personalized learning experiences at BCIS and how these experiences have laid the foundation for their educational journey.
BCIS warmly welcomes you to experience our academic environment, engage in face-to-face discussions with our academic and admissions teams, and listen to the experiences shared by current students and parents. We look forward to meeting you during our campus Open Days on March 9th and March 16th!
