Avenir
Established in 2017 by four seniors at BCIS, Avenir is a business competition aiming to encourage and inspire secondary school students worldwide to develop innovative business plans. The competition aims to cultivate the participants' skills in entrepreneurship, social enterprise thinking, positive networking, and allows them to receive critical feedback from business professionals as well as getting a chance to delve into the field.
Avenir elevates secondary school students' ideas by fostering an innovative mindset and offering numerous prizes and resources. Engaging in Avenir requires participants to be collaborative and conduct thorough market research in industries, practice and enhance public speaking skills, and build confidence in presenting arguments as a team. Students participate in this program and develop solutions to pressing challenges.
Avenir aims towards envisioning future businesses that work for the good of all & the sustainable development of the world.
Avenir 2025 Theme: Inclusive Innovation
Dear Young Entrepreneurs,
This year, we encourage you to base your ideas around the concept of Inclusive Innovation for a sustainable future. Inclusive innovation is a model for businesses to develop ideas, technologies, and systems with specific objectives that prioritize sustainability and equity. It's about creating solutions that work for everyone, especially those left out, while also keeping the planet in mind.
Inclusive innovation, whether through novel ideas or the iteration of existing products, fosters progress that supports both society and the environment.
This approach is vital in the present era. Inclusive innovation addresses urgent issues like climate change, increasing social inequalities, and the depletion of natural resources. By prioritizing equity and sustainability, it creates pathways for long-term progress in an increasingly complex and diverse world.
