The Apple MacBook 1:1 program at BCIS supports teaching and learning for all students from Grades 4-12 who are required to purchase a MacBook that can be used in and outside of the classroom for learning purposes.
BCIS strives to make sure students are given every opportunity to develop the 21st Century skills that they will need to be competitive in a changing technological landscape. BCIS develops creative and critical thinkers through a rich curriculum built on inquiry and experiential learning. It is the aim of the MacBook program to both support and drive such learning experiences.
BCIS works with Doublerise, an authorized Apple education re-seller, to ensure that a discount is offered to all student purchases of a MacBook. Students can also purchase MacBook from other channels but all MacBooks have to meet the BCIS minimum requirements as below:
• Students must purchase a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro 13"
or larger.
• MacBooks must have a minimum hard disk storage size of
256GB.
• MacBooks models shouldn't be older than Year 2021. A new model is preferred. The MacOS version should not be older than version 12.7 (Monterey), preferably version 13.6 (Ventura) or above, in order to ensure maximum software compatibility.
• Windows PC Laptops are not acceptable

personal device, not shared with others.

Students can choose to purchase their MacBook from other authorized sellers including authorized Apple stores. However, students must ensure that their MacBook meets the specifications as outlined above.
BCIS highly recommends that students purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan. Although the initial purchase of a MacBook includes a one-year limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary technical support, an extended three-year AppleCare Protection Plan is recommended. The MacBook is a very powerful learning tool with countless benefits. We believe that the Apple MacBook 1:1 program at BCIS has a significant impact on teaching and learning and will enable students to develop 21st Century skills.
In addition,all students in Grades 6 to 12 who have chosen Design Technology will need to purchase additional software. The details about this software requirement can be found in the link below.
