STUDENTS' RETURN BRINGS HOPE

Dennis Wang

Monday, April 27th, marked the much-anticipated reopening of our campus, as our Grade 12 Students returned to Beijing City International School (BCIS), bringing a warmth to the main campus after three of months of closure. With strict health and safety measures in place, this was not your ordinary school day.

Upon arriving at school, students were required to complete a series of health checks and disinfection procedures before entering. Once on campus, students were required to wear masks at all times when not eating, maintain safe social distance both in the classroom and outdoors and have their temperatures checked twice daily.

Whilst this was not an average day in school, students still experienced the #BCISpirit as they were welcomed on campus by applauding teachers and staff donning their best BCIS regalia. In the classroom, our program of blended learning continues in order to ensure minimal disruption to students' education and to protect the health of students and teachers. Masks couldn't hide the joy in students' faces as they were able to see their classmates and teachers in person and on campus once again.

As Julie Lawton, BCIS Head of School, said in her email and video to BCIS community members, this week was an important step in the process that will lead to more BCIS students resuming on-site learning and brings hope to our BCIS community members. As we continue along the "road to recovery", we eagerly await the moment when we will be able reunite all the BCIS community.
